Football Buster

Are you part of a football club or soccer team, but you're struggling to raise money for your cause? In today's world it can be incredibly stressful to organize a fund-raiser for a worthy cause, especially if its football related, but few people realise that there are actually really easy ways of raising money without spending hours collating goals and teams! Football Buster is an innovative new football game system which allows you to raise money for your chosen cause with extreme ease. Any Football Clubs or Organisation can actually set up their own online Football game online, which only takes about 10 minutes to set up. The game itself can often be generally referred to as a "Football Lottery", where you can choose all of your lucky numbers for the upcoming game!
The football games themselves are based on actual live Football results, so you can watch along with your fingers crossed, hoping that you've got the right sums, which can actually add to the excitement of the game itself, if it's not quite exciting enough just watching it! But you might be wondering how it works, well it's actually very simple. Once you have set up your online football game using Football Buster, you can register and start fundraising straight away! Your players can take part in the games and choose their 2 lucky numbers to play; the number they choose represent two real-life and professional football clubs.
The goals that those two clubs score will then be added together to give all your players a score. Then, it's whoever gets to 21 first! Once a player reaches 21, they could win prizes and cash payouts for winning the football lottery game. One great advantage to raising money this way, is that you don't have to worry about doing all the sums yourself. Football Buster has an automated gaming system that does it all for you, reducing practically all the admin you would usually have to do. The system itself tracks and keeps note of the goals scored by each team for you, it also allows new players to join in whenever they like, meaning that nobody has to wait for a round to finish before joining in!
Causes already involved in the Football Buster Games include Simon Yeo with Help for Heroes. Simon was a hero in the field, serving in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Germany, and has always had the nose for a goal! He's one of Help for Heroe's most valued fundraisers, his money-raising efforts have included having his body waxed on YouTube, and even letting a die-hard Lincoln fan take his most prized shirt off his back. He's also one of the acting figureheads for the Help for Heroes Bike Ride next April, which travels all around the coast of the UK. He was first attracted to Football Buster because he felt it gave competitors the chance to give money to a worthy cause, as well as having fun at the same time. Football Buster also has the support of Grass Roots Football and various other football teams, all raising money for their separate funds and causes.
Football Buster will always be committed to helping raise funds for all good causes, and the online system itself can help you raise money from all around the world, as well as this, the Football Buster team can help with any promotion of soccer teams football game you want to set up, all for free, in order to raise awareness of the game, and get more people involved in the game, all raising money too! You set a game prize, and you're away, the rest is all done for you, it's simple, easy and a lot of fun, and it can help you raise more money than you'd ever imagined for that cause that you're supporting. With so many benefits, you'd be mad not to give it a try, giving and raising money is a wonderful thing, and with Football Buster - football games, it's simple and a lot of fun too!

The History Of Dallas Cowboys Football

The Dallas Cowboys first joined the NFL in 1960 as an expansion team. They became very popular hence, primarily because the team has always shown the might and the form of a champion.
For 160 consecutive games, the Dallas Cowboys have sold out every single seat in their arena. This streak started almost 20 years ago. This only shows how powerful the team really is, in and out of the playing court. The record they have established caused them to earn the title of being the most valuable sports franchise in the United States by Forbes Magazine.
Before they are known as the Cowboys, the team was called the Steers and the Rangers first. The team started playing in the 1960s at the Cotton Bowl arena. They never won a single game during their first season though. But that didn't stop them from winning big several years later.
With Don Meredith, Chuck Howley, and Don Perkins playing for the team in the 1960s, the team slowly but surely became one of the contenders of the league. The nationwide popularity of the Dallas happened the next decade when they became the favorites during the Super Bowl. The team won Super Bowl XII, after making an appearance in Super Bowl X and eventually, in Super Bowl XIII.
In the 1980s, Danny White joined the team. He replaced Roger Staubach as quarterback and he was able to lead the Cowboys to a five-time playoff series during his reign. But despite their good performance, the team failed to make it into Super Bowl. There were lots of losses and disappointments during this decade. But the team knows how to get past them.
In the 2000s, Dave Campo moved from being a defensive coordinator to head coach. But he failed to perform as expected. However, in 2003, the Cowboy became the team with the best record, allowing them to acquire a playoff berth during that season. The Cowboys were actually on and off, being in the playoffs and then out again. It is like a rollercoaster ride, as the team tried to regain their lost championship form.
However, a few more misfortunes befell the team as 12 of the players got injured in an accident at their practice facility. The arena collapsed when a wind storm strike. Even so, the Dallas Cowboys will continue to be a strong force in the NFL. In fact, they are scheduled to be a part of the Legacy Weekend games of the 2009 season.
Throughout their stint in the National Football League, the cowboys have won a total of five Super Bowl Championships. They have 10 Conference Championships and 19 Division Championships as well, along with a total of 29 playoff appearances.

High School Football Season Ends, for A Minute or Two

At 10:22 p.m. Saturday, the final high school football game of 2011 was completed. Concord De La Salle finished off another annihilation of a Southern California opponent, beating Westlake Village Westlake, 35-0, in the CIF state championship Open Division bowl game.

It's probably time to just let Coach Harry Welch and Santa Margarita take the next crack at De La Salle, since he's 3-0 in bowl games, including a 2006 victory over De La Salle and Coach Bob Ladouceur.

"I would like to one time before I stop coaching to go against Bob again," Welch said.
Let's explore the big issues ahead in prep football for 2012.

First up is the annual hiring and firing of coaches. One of the best jobs in the City Section opened up Saturday. Elijah Asante resigned at 11-time champion Carson to pursue other opportunities. He took the Colts to the City final in back-to-back seasons.

Asante could be the main player in a historic coaching hire. There are no African American head coaches at any of the top private schools in Southern California. He has interviews at Studio City Harvard-Westlake and Santa Fe Springs St. Paul.
Next month, the transfer game picks up full steam with the start of the spring semester. Freshmen and sophomores unhappy with playing time will make a quick exit. Juniors with visions of college scholarships and of playing for a championship will convince mommy and daddy to pull the trigger and switch schools.

February brings the start of a bidding process for those who want to host the CIF state championship bowl games. A three-year contract with the Home Depot Center ends in 2012. Will Fresno, Palo Alto or Bakersfield make a bid to snatch away the championships from the Los Angeles area? Attendance was 9,645 on Saturday. There were 43,369 for the Texas state championships at Cowboys Stadium. Ouch.
In March, there's letter-of-intent day for private schools. The admission letters go out. All those open houses and the shadowing of students will either pay off or leave some coaches in panic mode.

March 9 is the date the Southern Section is scheduled to announce its revised playoff groupings. Will the Marmonte League be moved to the Pac-5 Division? Will the Sunset League be moved out of the Pac-5 and placed in the Southwest Division?
Then comes a summer like no other. Thanks to someone's insidious idea that high school football players will love playing 16 games in a season, the entire state will move up its practice schedule to accommodate a new regional playoff system that will involve 20 schools.

Scrimmages are set for the weekend of Aug. 17. Zero-week games begin Aug. 24. Week one is Aug. 31. City and Southern Section championships are Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Regional playoffs are Dec. 7. And the state bowl games are Dec. 14-15.
Among the potential problems: It gets very hot in August.
"Last year we got to 126 degrees at 2:30 in the afternoon," Palm Springs Coach Steve Fabian said.

Fortunately, Palm Springs knows how to deal with heat. Others are going to have to learn.

Then there's the fatigue and injury factor. On Friday night, Riley Sorenson, Santa Margarita's 6-foot-5, 316-pound junior lineman, lay on the field with a trainer holding an ice pack behind his neck. He looked beat up and exhausted after his team's thrilling 42-37 bowl victory over San Jose Bellarmine.

I wanted to ask him if he would be ready to play a 16th game in seven days, because that's the schedule for 2012. I decided he had earned a break from Coach Welch, sportswriters and anyone else. But soon, he and his nonsenior teammates are going to return to the field, and it's going to be their longest football season ever.

Hey, next year's regional playoffs will be fun. If it had happened this season, the matchups would have been Westlake vs. Santa Margarita in the Open Division and Vista Murrieta vs. Bakersfield in Division I. But who's going to care about the state bowl games the following week? Mark me down as a skeptic about the whole 16-game format.

As for top teams in 2012, here's my preseason forecast: 1. Santa Margarita, 2. Servite, 3. Vista Murrieta, 4. Westlake, 5. Narbonne, 6. Oaks Christian, 7. Alemany.

LSU Team Somehow Managed to Sneak Back Into Game

As kickoff approaches, let’s look at a few of the key matchups. First, Arkansas junior quarterback Tyler Wilson will bring the SEC’s top-rated passing game (316.9 yards per game) against an LSU defense that ranks fifth nationally in pass defense (158.27 yards per game) and second in pass-efficiency defense. Four members of the LSU secondary have been named SEC Defensive Player of the Week this season.
But one part of that quartet, free safety Eric Reid, is considered doubtful for today’s game with a leg injury. (The best guess is that it’s a quad or hamstring issue, but Les Miles is renowned for his fibbing about injuries. He once described his approach as “honestly deceptive,” and somehow he said it with a straight face.) Miles says that backup Craig Loston will be fit to replace Reid despite missing the past few games with either a wrist injury, a concussion or both, depending on whom one believes. If Loston can’t go, little-used senior Derrick Bryant will get the first call. But the Tigers were worried enough by Reid’s absence when he went down last week against Ole Miss to take the redshirt off true freshman Ronald Martin in the 11th game of the season. Let’s just say that move wasn’t necessary to beat Ole Miss, which rolled over in a 52-3 shellacking, but with today and next week in mind.
Another intriguing matchup is LSU punter Brad Wing vs. Hogs returner Joe Adams. Wing, the freshman from Australia, is perhaps the nation’s only matinee-idol punter. That reputation comes largely from the fake-punt touchdown run he would have had against Florida if it weren't called back due to a taunting penalty. He also endeared himself to the LSU faithful (and earned some more punishment laps in practice) when CBS cameras caught him posing with some comely LSU fans when the Tigers played Tennessee -- while the game was still in progress. But there is substance behind Wing’s style. His 40 punts this season have been returned for a grand total (not average) of 6 yards, with 21 of the 40 downed inside the 20. He’s especially effective at pooch-punting, as the Australian Rules-trained booter drops the ball out of the sky around the 10-yard-line and more often than not into the waiting arms of LSU’s Tyrann “Honey Badger” Mathieu or Ron Brooks.
Adams, meanwhile, leads the SEC and ranks third in the nation by averaging 16.2 yards per return, including a nation’s-best three touchdowns. If you haven’t seen his remarkable serpentine scoring return against Tennessee, get thee to YouTube. Expect Wing to do all he can to keep Adams from even getting a chance to return a punt. But if Adams does get his hands on one with some room to roam, watch out.

The NFL's Mount Passmore

While all eyes are trained on Denver and the magic feet of quarterback Tim Tebow, the NFL is quietly having an historic season through the air. It's not that there's one quarterback threatening to smoke Dan Marino's 17-year-old single-season passing record. There are three.
Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, who's averaging 336 passing yards per game, and Tom Brady of New England, who's at 329, are both on pace to surpass Marino's mark of 5,084 yards. Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, who's arguably having the best season by a quarterback in NFL history, is projected to come within eight yards.
This flowering of passing carries the residue of design: Starting in 1978, the NFL tried to open up the skies by enacting a rule that prohibited defensive players from making contact with receivers more than five yards downfield. The rule sent passing totals soaring over the next five seasons, culminating in 1982 when San Diego's Dan Fouts averaged 321 yards passing per game—another record that's in jeopardy. Defenses have caught up at various points, but later rules tweaks (many of them designed to protect quarterbacks and wide receivers) continue to make passing better. The way the rules are, says Fouts, now a CBS analyst, defense may never regain the advantage.
Still, the performances of this season's three virtuosos can also be traced to something many NFL coaches and players are too haughty to mention: the powerful shaping influence of the college game.
Associated Press
Tom Brady
Brees, Brady and Rodgers—who are all between 28 and 34 years old—are products of a time in college football when offense was being reshaped by the spread: a scheme that features the quarterback taking shotgun snaps with as many as five receivers and an empty backfield. The 1990s—after decades of buttoned-up militarism—were college football's version of the psychedelic '60s. Free-thinking coaches finally stepped away from the bedrock values of the power-running game to fully embrace the pass.
Former Purdue coach Joe Tiller, who coached Brees in college, grew up in Ohio as a disciple of Woody Hayes, the legendary Ohio State coach who championed the idea that the top teams in college football were the toughest teams. That meant grinding out yards behind a punishing offensive line.

2011 Spring Football Game News And Notes

TUSCALOOSA -- AJ McCarron had a chance to treat the White team to some steak.
Working with Alabama's second-team offense and against its second-team defense on Saturday, the redshirt sophomore quarterback engineered an 11-play, 62-yard drive that ate up the final 1:13 of the A-Day game. But his last pass to Kevin Norwood in the end zone fell incomplete.
Trailing 14-10, McCarron had to take the final shot from 28 yards out on fourth-and-11 and just seven seconds left.
McCarron kept the drive going earlier, converting fourth-and-10 from his 49-yard line by hitting Kenny Bell with a 24-yard pass. He then found Eddie Lacy on a 5-yard pass to put the ball on the Crimson 22 with 19 seconds left. His next pass was incomplete, and a 6-yard sack by Brandon Lewis followed. After a timeout came the final play, which resulted in franks and beans for the White.
Defensive numbers
Alabama's strong defensive play Saturday was led by linebacker C.J. Mosley, who topped the White (the first-team defense) with nine tackles (seven solo), a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry. Linebackers Courtney Upshaw, Dont'a Hightower and defensive back DeQuan Menzie had six tackles each. Menzie also had an interception. Hightower, linebacker Jerrell Harris and defensive linemen Damion Square and Chris Bonds had one sack each.
The second-team defense was led by linebacker Chris Jordan and defensive back Ranzell Watkins, each with nine tackles. Defensive lineman Brandon Lewis had five tackles, including a pair of sacks. Lineman Nick Gentry and linebacker Adrian Hubbard had one sack apiece.
Clean game
Only two penalties were called in the game, both against the White, totaling 20 yards.
New players
So how did the defensive additions do? Vinnie Sunseri led all Alabama spring-semester additions with six tackles (four solo), and his roommate, linebacker Trey DePriest, had five tackles (two solo). Defensive linemen Jesse Williams and Quinton Dial each had an assisted tackle.
How'd they do it?
Upon further review, Alabama's safeties, who were wearing black non-contact jerseys still made an impact -- literally. Nick Perry (shoulder) had two solo tackles despite not being allowed to tackle. Jarrick Williams returned an interception 28 yards. Mark Barron had the biggest play of all, returning a fumble 96 yards -- untouched -- for a touchdown. He later recover another fumble for 4 yards.
Record attendance
Alabama's estimated A-Day attendance of 92,310 at Bryant-Denny Stadium set a record for the annual spring game. The record surpassed the 2007 attendance of 92,138 set during Nick Saban's first year. It marked the third time in Saban's five years that the A-Day attendance surpassed 90,000 fan, including last year's attendance of 91,312. The national attendance record for a spring game was set by Ohio State with 95,722 in 2009.

The Sport That The World Raves About Football

Today's world raves about one sport in particular that captures the fancy of sports enthusiasts all over. The game or sport is football. The sheer ecstasy, exhilaration and adrenaline rush that football tournaments bring to the players and viewers alike is unique and unbeatable. This sport also finds its roots in history and there have been enough evidences to suggest that our ancestors too engage in this action packed form of sport in their own maverick ways.
The term football basically symbolizes a game that involves kicking and maneuvering the ball across a playing field only using legs and then attempting to score by putting the ball into the opposition's net called as a goal. Football by itself stands for several different kinds of team sports such as rugby, soccer, American football, Canadian football, etc. But the most commonly adhered to form is football or soccer. This game involves two teams comprising of 11 or 18 players based on variations in the format competing in a clearly defined field or area. The objective of both the teams is to score goals by cohesive play tactics to pass the ball over into a goal area or over a line. The opposing team has to defend their goal posts to prevent the other team from scoring. The ball used in the game has also evolved over the years. Earlier versions were made from animal hides and sometimes were composed of inflatable bladders made from pig's bladders or other animals.
Further advancements led to the discontinuation of animal bladders and led to the covering of the ball with leather covers to keep it in shape and rubber inflatable bladders were also included into the footballs. The game is not limited to any sexual discrimination and there are men's as well as women's teams from across the globe who indulge in this sport with equal enthusiasm. Clubs playing football tournaments are scattered across regions in countries and spread across continents.
Out of all the soccer or football leagues that exist in the world the English Premier League (EPL), the Spanish La Liga and the German Bundesliga are quite famous among football enthusiasts. With top clubs from these leagues embarking on Football tours and participating in various football tournaments, football patrons are treated sumptuously to the delight of seeing their favourite players and clubs in action. Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) is the governing body for football or soccer and oversees all the matters related to the game. The football world cup which sees the participation of major soccer playing nation is held once in every four years, with the latest edition being hosted in South Africa.
Tourlegends is a sports networking and collaborative sports connectivity network that allows you and your club to interact with players and clubs in the global football community. With automatic fixture generators, calendar generators and other such tools following the sport is a breeze for a football enthusiast.

Football News Montreal Alouettes Expect Anthony Calvillo To Return In 2012

MONTREAL - Although their franchise player has yet to notify the organization whether he plans to continue playing in 2012, the Alouettes are moving ahead with the expectation Anthony Calvillo is returning and will be their starting quarterback.
And, although Calvillo will turn 40 during the season, the decision to return will be his, and his alone.
“It’s real simple, unless Anthony decides he doesn’t want to play or can’t play consistently, we expect him back, starting and playing every down,” general manager Jim Popp said. “Anthony Calvillo’s still the best player in the Canadian Football League - and I’m taking nothing away from (British Columbia pivot) Travis Lulay. In my book, A.C. was the MVP of this league the last two years and didn’t win it.
“A guy that has done what he has for our organization and can still play at that level, we want him as long as he can play and wants to play,” Popp added. “If you can play at a high level, it doesn’t matter your age.”
Provided Calvillo returns for a 19th CFL season - 15th with Montreal - it continues to appear it will be with a new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Scott Milanovich, expected to depart, met with Toronto general manager Jim Barker on Tuesday at the Argonauts’ football operations office in Mississauga, Ont., and appears primed to become the team’s new head coach, replacing Barker. And, although Saskatchewan has permission to interview Milanovich, Roughriders GM Brendan Taman told The Gazette in an email Milanovich hasn’t returned his message.
Milanovich’s agent, Jack Reale, also is saying little at this point. “I haven’t been authorized to say anything,” he told The Gazette.
Calvillo, meanwhile, hasn’t returned messages left over two days by The Gazette and hasn’t told Popp anything either, although he met with team owner Robert Wetenhall before the Grey Cup. The two are expected to huddle again this week. The meetings are at Wetenhall’s request. Indeed, it’s not uncommon for Wetenhall to meet players socially, both during and after the season, before he returns to Florida for the winter.
Popp always has expected Calvillo to play at least one more season, as The Gazette first reported weeks ago. Calvillo signed a new two-year contract last winter, taking him through 2012.
Although there were certainly bumps along the road for him this season, Calvillo again produced numbers that would indicate he’s at the top, or near there, of his game. Calvillo, the East Division nominee as outstanding player, passed for a league-leading 5,251 yards. He tied with Lulay for most touchdowns (32) and was intercepted a league-low eight times - impressive, considering he attempted 654 passes, more than any of his peers. He also was named a CFLPA all-star by his peers.
But it wasn’t all rosy for Calvillo. He suffered a concussion and was knocked out during a game at Edmonton. His late interception potentially cost the team a win at Calgary, and he threw for only 63 yards against the Lions before being removed late in the third quarter. Calvillo fumbled nine times, losing five of them.
“We all want him back,” Popp said. “Either Anthony decides personally or we, as an organization, say his performance isn’t where it needs to be and it’s time for us to move on. And we’re not at that point.
“He gives us every opportunity, by his performance. He gives us a chance to win championships.”
The Als have been extremely blessed at the position since the franchise returned to Montreal in 1996, and have gone from one Hall of Fame quarterback, Tracy Ham, to another in Calvillo. Although Ham had a reduced role for the Als his final two seasons, partly because of injuries, he also saw the importance of developing his successor - something Calvillo has stated is equally as important.
“He won’t have a reduced role unless he wants it,” Popp said. “Some players become inconsistent as they age, but it’s not there with A.C. We’re in no hurry to move him out. He can do it and we’ve got trust in him.”
And, should the Als ever have to turn to his backup, Adrian McPherson, on a more consistent basis, Popp believes McPherson, heading into his fifth season with Montreal, has the requisite potential.
“I’ve seen what he can do. I don’t need to know more,” Popp said.

Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet Rankings Are Changing

After the first wave of fantasy football cheat sheet rankings were set in stone, it didn't take long for things to start changing. And that change came when Kenny Britt got arrested again!
Yes, Mr. Britt, just off a court appearance, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and a few other details such as damaging evidence or something like that. Don't take me wrong I don't mean to be flippant just a little frustrated with such a talented fantasy football player it is hard to watch them put themselves and their career at risk. Not to mention negatively affecting their teammates and their franchise which pays him a lot of money.
Personally I had placed Kenny Britt at the bottom of my top 10 wide receivers. I truly believe his upside is huge, however limited by the inexperienced quarterback for the Titans. This recent brush with the law could land Britt a game suspension anywhere from one to four weeks. This is a guess so don't think this is a sure thing, but when you are evaluating your fantasy football cheat sheet rankings it is important to take this potential suspension seriously.
This recent brush with the law has caused me to lower Britt significantly. I now have him in the low 20s to low 30s of my wide receiver rankings. A careful watch of the fantasy news at Football diehards over the next few weeks hopefully will give us a better understanding of whether Britt will potentially lose games in 2011.
Even if Britt escapes this latest issue, fantasy football manager skill must recognize that he could easily make another mistake not far down the road. Hence there is additional risk to selecting Britt in your fantasy draft in the first three rounds. So keep a close eye on football diehard’s fantasy football cheat sheet rankings as we will be adjusting his position as information comes out.

Lannuzzi Not Just A Football Player

The term “football player” simply doesn’t do justice to Marco Iannuzzi.
The B.C. Lions receiver and punt returner is mature well beyond his 24 years. He’s in a construction consulting business with his father, which puts his Harvard architecture degree to good use, as the two map out construction projects from the ground up. As well, Iannuzzi is looking to set out on a career in the financial industry.
Should he so choose, he could give up football today, put on a suit and pack a briefcase and never put his body in harm’s way again.
“There’s a million other things I could do, and people ask me all the time, ‘Hey, you went to Harvard, why are you playing football?’ Well, because I want to play football,” he said. “It’s that simple.”
Iannuzzi made eight catches as a rookie this season, and averaged just over eight yards on his 16 punt returns.
“I’ve been really fortunate,” he said. “In my 12 some-odd years of football, I think I’ve won a championship in 10 of those years. So when I look around at these guys, it feels just like it’s felt for me the rest of my career. It feels like a winning group of guys.”
Garrett feels bad for fallen teammates
Winnipeg Blue Bombers running back Chris Garrett benefited from injuries to Fred Reid and Carl Volny, but he wasn’t happy to see his teammates go down with knee injuries in the same game on Sept. 24.
When the team’s first- and second-string backs got hurt, Garrett was promoted from the practice roster and has put in a series of great performances ever since.
“I wasn’t happy (when Reid and Volny got hurt),” admitted Garrett. “I was thinking more about them because they were lost for the season. But at the same time, it was an opportunity, and no matter how an opportunity is presented, you have to take it. I’m sad about what happened to them, but an opportunity comes once in a lifetime, and I just took it and ran with it.”
Garrett started the Bombers’ final six regular-season games, and averaged 96 yards a game while scoring four touchdowns.
“As soon as he sees the hole, he gets his shoulders going north-south and he’s got that extra burst to get through the line,” said offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte. “And rarely do you see the first tackle bring him down.”
Dinos’ Nill grooms great pros
It’s no coincidence that Blake Nill-coached players make an impact in the CFL ranks according to Winnipeg Blue Bombers offensive lineman Steve Morley.
“He’s a great football mind, right? He knows what he’s doing and he runs a professional practice,” said Morley, who played for the university coach at St. Mary’s. “He knows how to get guys ready for the next level, he knows how to make guys better.”
Nill, now the Calgary Dinos head coach, also has ties to Winnipeg kicker Justin Palardy, fullback James Green, offensive lineman Paul Swiston, defensive lineman Deji Oduwole and receiver Cassidy Doneff.
“You want to see your guys succeed,” said Nill. “I look at those guys — Green has fought for every inch he’s got. Morley’s paid his dues, Swiston is an up-and-comer, you want to see him do well, and the same thing with Deji, a guy who’s clawing his way, trying to become a regular in the CFL. That what it’s about, right? The experience they’re having right now is something they’ll cherish for the rest of their lives.”
Braley has two teams to root for
Could things have worked out any more fortuitously this weekend for B.C. Lions owner David Braley?
Not only does the Hamilton businessman see his CFL club advance to play in the Grey Cup game at BC Place, but the former tight end’s alma mater and the school to which he’s the largest patron, McMaster University, won its way into Friday night’s Vanier Cup.
“Yeah, I’m a pretty lucky guy,” Braley, a Marauder from 1960-63, said in an interview on Thursday.
The only thing better would have been if the other CFL team he owns, the Toronto Argonauts, was representing the East in the Grey Cup instead of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Toronto will host both the Grey Cup and Vanier Cup in 2012.
“Maybe we can do that next year,” he said of a Toronto-B.C. title game, before adding with the hint of a chuckle that “we have to get (the Argos) out of the basement first.”

Football Game Of Week

The Green Bay Packers were favored by some prognosticators to be the class of the NFC. But injuries decimated a very talented team. If not for the steady play of Quarterback Aaron Rogers, the Packers would have missed this year’s playoffs.
Gradually, they got better and with the stout defense, lead by Clay Mathews and the Cornerback Extraordinaire, Charles Woodson, and sure-handed veteran wide outs on offense, Donald Driver and Greg Jennings anything can happen.
They will be facing the talented young Philadelphia Eagles. Who up until recently, looked virtually unstoppable. The speed of the young receivers, the emergence of Lesean Mccoy has been the one-two punch that most teams have no counter moves for. Then add the mutli-talented, Pro Bowl, MVP candidate, quarterback Mike Vick to the mix. What can they do?
What the Packers will try to do is keep pressuring Mike Vick, like the Vikings and Bears were able to do successfully. The Packers were able to beat the Eagles that earlier this season by limiting those big plays the Eagles are able to get with their speed. So they can go into Lincoln Financial Field knowing they can beat the Eagles.
The eagles will have to limit their turnovers and have to keep Mike Vick off the ground. Protection is the name of this game. If they can do that, the will give Vick the opportunity to do his thing. And that offense is explosive.
Now with that said, given the explosiveness of the eagles offense and the toughness of the Packers Defense, this game will come down to special teams this is where the Eagles are better than the Packers.
The kicking game of David Ackers and the punting game of the Aussie, Sav Rocca make the Eagles arguably the best in the NFL. Then like a cherry on top, the electric Mr. Desean Jackson’s return game, standing... waiting…intimidating… He can change a game in the blink of an eye!

When it comes to select one of the best football players, you can use the criteria that the best is one who has something unique and excellent qualities that everybody else has but that specific person uses that quality efficiently as compared to other team mates. Isn’t it?
Undoubtedly, each team member has that potential, vigor and capacity to become the best, if he uses it at the crucial moment efficiently; he wins the title best player. However, acquiring some qualities, an ordinary football player can try to be a great one. Here we are going to discuss about some qualities that makes a football player great.
• He must have a burning desire to win.
• He should love to run, tackle and block, which are the basic actions in football.
• He should be always ready physically in the top conditions in the whole year around.
• He should learn to take defeat sportily. If he faces any disappointment, he should react with a more determined effort and resolve, and not by displaying anger, poor sportsmanship and excuses.
• He follows all the workshops, football trials and learns his assignments thoroughly.
• He never quits or admits defeat, rather plays every play regarding it is the most crucial play.
• Despite of any condition.
• He should try to win his weaknesses.
• He is intent on coming off the field better players than he was when stepping on the field.
• He always works hard to be the best player in the team.
• He hustles all the time.
• He always thinks about team and always encourages their teammates.
These are the qualities of a great football player and if one adopts all those qualities he can be the best football player. There are many football academies to teach the game and some skills to rule the ground. But qualities are not the things that can be taught in any football academy every student have to acquire all these qualities of them and blend them with their skills. A perfect blend forms the best football player.

Football Coach of Peen State University Tom Bradley's Scandal

or Penn State University, there was the past week _ a week of unimaginable turmoil and sorrow, anger and disbelief and shame. And then there is tomorrow.
The university has been rocked by a child-sex abuse scandal involving a former assistant football coach and it cost long-time head coach Joe Paterno his job. Now, some students and alumni are wondering what comes next for a proud institution brought low by allegations that powerful men knew they had a predator in their midst and failed to take action. What should the community do now?
"Our best," said 19-year-old Julie Weiss, a second-year student who paused outside her dormitory to consider the question.
Last week, the worst in its 156-year history, the place called Happy Valley became noticeably less so. Students and alumni felt betrayed as the allegations exploded onto the nation's front pages, bringing notoriety to a place largely unaccustomed to scandal.
State College is a community of less than 40,000. Paterno spent 46 years leading the Penn State team, and won more games than any other major college football coach in America. The team's success has brought in millions of dollars in television broadcast rights, merchandising and more.
As the school's trustees pledge to get to the bottom of the saga, many Penn Staters are feeling sadness, anger, a sense of loss. Some can't sleep. Others walk around with knots in their stomachs or can't stop thinking about the victims. Wherever two or more people congregate, the subject inevitably comes up. Even Saturday's pregame tailgate parties were muted with the subject that hung low over everything.
"Everyone's been struggling to reconcile how something so bad could happen in a place that we all think is so good," said fourth-year student Gina Mattei, 21, hours after Penn State played its first game since 1965 without Joe Paterno on the sidelines as head coach. "It's sad to think that something like that could happen HERE, in a place where everyone is really comfortable and has a lot of community spirit."
Sandusky was charged Nov. 5 with molesting eight boys over a span of 15 years, and two university officials were charged with failing to notify authorities after being told about a 2002 incident in which Sandusky allegedly sodomized a boy in the showers of the football building.
The scandal quickly metastasized, costing two more key figures their jobs _ Paterno, the face of Penn State football since 1966, as well as university president Graham Spanier. It also tarnished the reputation of an institution that preached "success with honor" and that, according to its own credo, was supposed to be better than this.
Some students argue that the question itself _ "How does Penn State regain what it's lost?" _ is flawed. This remains a world-renowned research institution, they point out. It's still the place where students hold THON, a yearly dance marathon that raises millions of dollars for pediatric cancer research. It's far more than football and far bigger than Sandusky, Spanier, even Paterno.
"I don't think that our name is tarnished at all," said Amy Fietlson, 19, a second-year student and aspiring veterinarian. "The integrity of a few individuals who have been involved with this school are definitely tarnished, but for the rest of us that had no way of preventing it or had no involvement in it, we are not tarnished at all. Our integrity remains."
But it won't be easy to recover, even with a commitment from new president Rodney Erickson to restore confidence and "rebuild our community." Too much damage has been done during a week of growing revelations, mounting anger and shock after nationally televised shock.
The U.S. Education Department is investigating whether the university violated federal law by failing to report the alleged assaults. Some donors are expected to pull back, at least in the short term. One football recruit has already changed his mind about attending Penn State next year. Moody's Investors Service Inc. warned that it might downgrade Penn State's bond rating as it gauges the impact of possible lawsuits. Then there's the risk that new allegations of wrongdoing _ more abuse victims coming forward, perhaps, or evidence of a wider cover-up than what's already been alleged _ could jolt the campus again."I hope and I pray that it doesn't go any further than what we've already seen, which is as tragic as it gets," said George Werner, 47, a Penn State graduate who was with friends Saturday in the shadow of the football stadium.Werner, 47, said he has struggled with the scandal every day, waking in the middle of the night and unable to go back to sleep.
He fears it will be a long, long time before the university gets back to normal. "Maybe not in my lifetime," he says.At the ball game, fans roared "WE ARE! PENN STATE!" in thundering unison. The old chant seemed to take on new significance after a singularly horrific week. It was an incantation, as if saying the words could restore things to the way they were. It was affirmation. It was a chance to show the world that Penn State is still Penn State. The university is so big _ it's basically a small city unto itself _ that very little can alter the daily routine. Students still took tests, wrote papers, did research. Penn Staters still showed characteristic pride in their school. Saturday night crowds still packed College Avenue's bars, pizza parlors, galleries and clothing stores.
Yet the Sandusky case reached beyond the confines of the football program into every corner of campus and across the vast alumni network.Earl Holt, a 2005 graduate who teaches school in Washington, D.C., said students and colleagues have asked him about Penn State. He came to State College over the weekend to see for himself, catching the game and gauging the mood on campus. He said he sensed "an atmosphere of disappointment, but also of wanting to heal the situation and move forward and progress."

American Football

American football is a sport played between two teams of eleven with the objective of scoring points by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone. Known in the United States simply as football, it may also be referred to informally as gridiron football.[1][2] The ball can be advanced by running with it or throwing it to a teammate. Points can be scored by carrying the ball over the opponent's goal line, catching a pass thrown over that goal line, kicking the ball through the opponent's goal posts or tackling an opposing ball carrier in his own end zone.
In the United States, the major forms are high school football, college football and professional football. Each of these are played under slightly different rules.[3] High school football is governed by the National Federation of State High School Associations and college football by the National Collegiate Athletic Association and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The major league for professional football is the National Football League.
American football is closely related to Canadian football but with some differences in rules and the field.[4] Both sports can be traced to early versions of association football and rugby football.
As usual, pundits remain divided as to who will lift the title next May, currently held by the ever-green Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. But they face stiff competition from big-spending neighbours Manchester City, as well as the strong London contingient of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, plus a resurgent Liverpool side under the steady guidance of their Kop hero, Kenny Dalglish. But football isn’t just about the Premier League.
The League Championship and Non-League football seasons have already begun, and way down in the Midland Football Alliance (some nine steps from the Premier League!!) our own Loughborough University football team has already made an excellent start to their campaign, winning their first two matches. Last season they finished a very creditable fourth in the league against a strong contingient of Midland semi-professional sides. And on September 3rd, the team prepare to launch themselves at the first hurdle towards Wembley glory, with a home FA Cup preliminary round tie against Yaxley or Godmanchester Rovers. The team will also be competing in the FA Vase, the British Universities and Colleges Sport Competition (BUCS) and the Midlands Universities League.
You can follow the team’s fortunes via their homepage here, and can find a comprehensive list of the division’s fixtures here. Why not pop along and cheer them on!And if you’re interested in football – either as a fan or a sports science student – don’t forget that the Library has a comprehensive range of sports databases, including SPORTDiscus and and the Physical Education Index, as well as a wealth of football-related books on our shelves.

2011 World Series: The Cardinals Want to Win Game 4

A fairly obvious headline I spotted yesterday amazingly came to fruition in Game 3 last night. The Cardinals and Rangers both answered the bell by plating far more runs than they did in Game 2. In fact, they combined for 23 runs making the unorthodox mission a wild success. Not to be outdone, a celebration of the obvious has made an appearance once again. Today’s thought-provoking headline? The Cardinals are going into Game 4 looking to win and take a 3-1 lead. Now I don’t know about you, but I’m relieved to learn of these plans as I would otherwise have no idea as to what Tony La Russa’s intentions were in Arlington this evening:
In other news, Josh Hamilton “says he might have Sports Hernia.” Now while I am flattered by his forwardness, I’m also a bit concerned at how mentally centered the Rangers slugger is going into such a critical game. Come on everybody, sing it for Josh: “Get well, get well soon, we wish you to get well … Geeeet well, get well soon, we wish you to get well…”
As Peterman stated, it really is a stirring little anthem of wellness.
Tonight’s starters are Derek Holland, who has served up five homers in 13.2 innings so far this postseason, and Edwin Jackson, a pitcher pretty much impossible to predict. Six innings of 2-run ball? Sure. Two innings of home run derby? Why the hell not.

The Highs and Lows of Tim Tebow: Down 15-0 Late, Denver Wins

If you were hoping that Tim Tebow talk would die down, sorry. Not this week. Every angle, every storyline, every stereotype of Tebow by both the “haters” and the “lovers” was played out over the more than 60 minutes of game action. For 50+ minutes, Tim Tebow was dreadful and looked every bit like the player who many expected. He scrambled for yards, but it was more than offset by bad sacks and inaccurate throws. On his first eleven drives of the day, the Broncos scored zero points. He was 4 for 14 for 46 yards, and with all the lost sack yards, the Broncos barely had positive net passing yards for the day.
Then, with the Broncos trailing 15-0 late, Tebow led what looked like a garbage time drive, getting a touchdown on a pass to Demaryius Thomas. Denver, though, recovered the onside kick that followed, and Tebow again quarterbacked the team down the field to a touchdown, and then ran in the 2-point conversion to send it to overtime.
He didn’t have to do much in overtime. The Dolphins won the toss, but then Matt Moore showed why he is Matt Moore, and had absolutely zero pocket awareness of the obvious blitz coming at him, and fumbled inside the Miami 40. Three handoffs and three yards later, and the Broncos won the game on a Matt Prater 52 yard field goal.
Last week, I was a “lover” I guess because I thought it was time to give him a chance to see what his different skill set could do, plus I defended his rating by QBR. This week, I’ll probably be labeled a “hater” for not overly praising his winning ways.
Despite all the religious references you will hear, Tebow does not control the onside kick that had to happen. If it doesn’t, the Broncos lose, and the story is about Tebow’s horrible performance that only looked moderately tolerable because of the garbage time touchdown. Since it did, he got another chance and took advantage. He played much better on the final drives, hitting throws that he was missing earlier. He does not will the fumble, though a Matt Moore fumble is not entirely unpredictable.
So in the end, the Tebow talk will be unbearable this week. The truth: he played a bad game against a bad opponent that other quarterbacks have carved up, but played well at the end. The Broncos got some bad breaks early, and had some missed field goals. They got some very good ones late. He made the plays at the end, but I hate the term “when necessary”. It’s necessary to make plays all game long, and there aren’t too many other opponents in this league where such a comeback would have still been viable late.

Sunday Night Football: Colts at Saints

Another primetime game for Curtis Painter. It’s should be fun. Honestly, as much as has been made of the quarterback situation in Indianapolis, the cornerback play there is just as awful, and probably worse. Jacob Lacey and Jarraud Powers have been abused in recent weeks. I’m sure that Drew Brees is a little excited about the possibilities.
If Indianapolis is going to stay in this one, it’s going to be by making plays on offense against a Saints’ defense that has had difficulty generating a pass rush and has been vulnerable. Painter hasn’t been consistent, but will have a chance to make plays downfield to Pierre Garcon, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. Indianapolis has been competitive in recent weeks, but has continually come up short at the end. If it gets to the end in this one, it will be a bonus.

The Nonsense Math Doesn’t Like Stanford

Here are your BCS rankings. They are opaque and indecipherable. They indicate little, but they somehow are the ultimate arbiter for which two teams may play for a championship. ESPN involving Craig James and Skip Bayless in the unveiling offered the precise level of seriousness and decorum they deserve. This will fluctuate wildly, but, as of this week, it looks as though Dabo and David Shaw better work on their stump speeches. Taking no account of victory margins. Brilliant.

Publicist calls report of alleged T.O. suicide try 'not factual'

Terrell Owens did not try to commit suicide Oct. 6, when his assistant placed a 911 call and authorities took the free-agent receiver to the hospital, his publicist said Thursday night.

Earlier Thursday, TMZ.com released audio of the emergency phone call, in which the assistant told a 911 operator in Los Angeles that Owens had ingested pills, was unresponsive and might have tried to kill himself.

"Terrell Owens absolutely did not attempt suicide nor did he attempt to overdose on pills on October 6, 2011," Owens' publicist, Diana Bianchini, said in a statement. "Reports released today claiming he did are completely false and were made in relation to a 911 call his assistant made that evening. The facts are that she arrived at his home that evening after he had already taken a sleeping aid to fall asleep. He was unresponsive because of this.

"Unaware that he had taken a sleeping aid prior to her arrival, his assistant became concerned and decided to call 911. When the ambulance and police arrived, Owens was responsive and was not held in the hospital. Reports released with the 911 call today are misleading and not factual."

Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, didn't respond to messages regarding the report.

The report surfaced two days after Owens staged an hour-long workout in Calabasas, Calif., to show teams that his surgically repaired left knee -- he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the spring -- was healthy enough to let him play. No NFL teams showed for the workout.

"As one can see from his workout televised this past Tuesday, he is strong both mentally and physically as well as 100% focused on playing football," Bianchini said.

Owens, a 15-year veteran, spent last season with the Cincinnati Bengals and finished with 72 receptions for 983 yards and nine touchdowns. He ranks second on the NFL's all-time list in receiving yards (15,934), is tied for second with Randy Moss in touchdown catches (153) and is sixth in receptions (1,078).

Vikings CB Cook charged with felony domestic assault

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook was charged Tuesday with trying to strangle his girlfriend, leaving her with a bloody nose and lip in an alleged attack that jeopardizes his status with the team.
Cook, 24, was charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation, which carries a penalty of up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Cook was arrested early Saturday and released from custody Tuesday on $40,000 bail. He is barred from contact with the alleged victim and cannot leave Minnesota, which would prevent him from traveling with the Vikings to Sunday's game at Carolina.
On NFL Replay
NFL Replay will re-air the Packers' 33-27 winover
the Vikings on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
» NFL Network scheduleCook has a court appearance set for Wednesday afternoon.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league is reviewing the matter. Such charges often bring suspensions, per the NFL's personal-conduct policy.
Cook issued a public apology to the Vikings and his fans Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.
"My apologies to the fans! Vikings ownership, coaching staff, my teammates and friends and family!!" he wrote.
Cook also sent out the following tweet: "There's always two sides to a story!!"
According to the complaint, Cook became upset early Saturday when he found out his girlfriend of 10 months had spoken to an ex-boyfriend. The woman told police that Cook threw her on the bed at his Eden Prairie home, got on top of her and grabbed her neck with an open hand, constricting her ability to breathe.
The woman freed herself by grabbing Cook's hair, the complaint said. Cook then struck her in the ear, sending her crashing into a wall. As the woman ran to the living room, he grabbed her neck again and squeezed it.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said at a news conference that Cook answered the door to the house, and officers found the woman with a bloody nose and upper lip. She had marks on her neck and hemorrhaging in her eye, Freeman said, consistent with victims of strangulation. State guidelines call for a sentence of a year and a day, he said.
Relive every game this season online and on-demand with enhanced viewing features. Get NFL Game Rewind.
Authorities haven't disclosed the girlfriend's identity, according to the Star Tribune, and Freeman said the alleged victim has been cooperating with the investigation.
Cook's attorney, David Valentini, told reporters his client was "of course" remorseful and "not happy" about the situation.
Cook is "upset he's sitting (in jail)," Valentini said Tuesday afternoon. "He's upset he missed the game (Sunday against the Green Bay Packers). He's upset with the whole incident." Freeman noted that case but said, "As far as we're concerned, there's no record."
Cook's most recent arrest is his second in the last eight months. He was found not guilty of brandishing a firearm earlier this year after allegedly pulling a gun on a neighbor in his home state of Virginia.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier had a talk with Cook during the offseason to reiterate the importance of staying out of trouble off the field, and the second-year pro emerged as perhaps the most reliable cornerback on the field during the team's 1-5 start.

Remember all the talk about all those undefeated teams

Remember all the talk about all those undefeated teams and how there would be chaos when they made it through the season undefeated? It seems to happen every year. Six or seven weeks in, we think we know everything, yet in a moment it all goes down the drain. Saturday was one of those moments.
The chaos came late, with one big upset happening in an evening game and the other taking place after a lightning delay, pushing the conclusion deep into the night. Wisconsin was the first to drop, and did so in dramatic fashion as Michigan State converted a tip-drill Hail Mary for the win. Just a few hours later, it was No. 3 Oklahoma's turn, with Texas Tech hanging on for dear life in a three-point win. Just as we all predicted.
What's it all mean? Expect Oklahoma and Wisconsin to fall, obviously. But which teams will jump up in the standings? It seems likely Boise State will get the short end of the stick, with Stanford and Clemson taking advantage of the miscues atop the rankings.
Here's a look at the scores that mattered on Saturday.
No. 1 LSU 45, Auburn 10. Even without its suspended starters, LSU was flat dominant again. The Tigers continue to look every part of their No. 1 ranking.
No. 2 Alabama 37, Tennessee 6. Of course, Alabama is on a collision course with LSU, making for one hell of a game in two weeks. Two dominant defenses and teams full of talent in a battle for the No. 1 spot? Not going to find many people not looking forward to this.
Texas Tech 41, No. 3 Oklahoma 38. So much for that. Oklahoma shot itself in the foot, Texas Tech played out of its mind and the Sooners' BCS Championship went down the drain while half of America was sleeping. Good morning!
No. 4 Oklahoma State 45, Missouri 24. Justin Blackmon exited early for precautionary reasons (concussion, reportedly), but it didn't matter. Oklahoma State is still off to the races, but that fun Bedlam matchup we were all looking forward to looks a little less intriguing right now.
No. 5 Boise State 37, Air Force 26. Yes, Air Force is a difficult matchup to prepare for. And yes, Boise State did survive at home. But this one was far from convincing and didn't earn the Broncos any style points.
No. 16 Michigan State 37, No. 6 Wisconsin 31. Nothing needs to be said. Just watch this over and over.
No. 7 Clemson 59, North Carolina 38. We're just going to have to confront the reality of Clemson being a top-five team.
No. 8 Stanford 65, Washington 21. At this point, it seems only Oregon will test Stanford in a huge Pac-12 North matchup. This was supposed to be the test for the Cardinal. Instead, it was a clinic as Stanford dismantled the Huskies.
No. 9 Arkansas 29, Ole Miss 24. Again, no style points here. Arkansas had to rally, but still came away the win. It wasn't pretty by any means, though.
No. 10 Oregon 45, Colorado 2. Oregon had this in the bag by halftime and let up. So close to a shutout!
No. 11 Kansas State 59, Kansas 21. And now we have to deal with Kansas State in the top-10. College football is a scary place.
No. 12 Virginia Tech 30, Boston College 14. This was a game at halftime and Boston College even led! So much for that.
No. 13 Nebraska 41, Minnesota 13. At least the game was entertaining. No, not because of superb play or execution; Minnesota is a ball of comical mistakes.
Syracuse 49, No. 14 West Virginia 23. Almost forgot about this one, but what in the world, Holgo? The Big East is on fire, you guys.
No. 17 Texas A&M 33, Iowa State 17. Steele Jantz was benched, which is the biggest tragedy in all of this.
No. 19 Houston 63, Marshall 28. Would love to see Case Keenum and the Cougars in a BCS game just for the balls-to-the-wall, throw it all around offensive explosion.
No. 21 Penn State 34, Northwestern 24. Where in the hell did this Penn State offense come from? And where did the defense go? Whose team is this?
Miami 24, No. 22 Georgia Tech. It was fun while it lasted, Yellowjackets.
Purdue 21, No. 23 Illinois 14. It was fun while it lasted, Zook.
And here's a look at the polls. The BCS Standings preview will be along shortly. This is what the BCS looked like last week.

What's Harbaugh's deal? Ask Jim Schwartz

DETROIT -- It's too bad Pete Carroll wasn't here to provide commentary for Jim Harbaugh's postgame display.
Then things might really have gotten out of hand.
Carroll, famously miffed at Harbaugh when their teams met in the Pac-10 a few years back, was safely away on the Seattle Seahawks' bye week. That left Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz alone to take issue with Harbaugh's behavior during the customary handshake that followed the San Francisco 49ers' emotional victory at Ford Field.
More From ESPN.com
There's no excuse for Jim Schwartz's stunning overreaction after the Lions' first loss, Kevin Seifert writes. BlogAnd Schwartz wasn't pleased.
"I went to congratulate coach Harbaugh and got shoved out of the way," Schwartz said. "And then I didn't expect an obscenity at that point, so it was a surprise to me at the end of the game."
Harbaugh, for his part, admitted to being a little too exuberant, caught up in the moment. He grabbed Schwartz's hand in exaggerated fashion and forcefully slapped the Lions' coach on the back with his other hand.
"I was just really revved up and that is totally on me," Harbaugh said."I shook his hand too hard. I really went in and it was a strong, kind of a slap-grab handshake, kind of like the same as I had been doing with (special-teams player Blake) Costanzo and some of the other guys. That was on me. A little too hard of a handshake there."
Harbaugh ran away following the handshake. Schwartz tried to catch up with him. It appeared as though words could have been exchanged, but nothing was clear for sure. Harbaugh's players then shielded Schwartz.
"I don't know what he was saying," Harbaugh said.
Of course, Harbaugh had no reason to be upset. His team won.
"I was not agitated," Harbaugh said. "Very happy with the win. Thrill of winning. Great feeling of victory."
Harbaugh said he caught up with Schwartz in the tunnel and acknowledge the overly aggressive handshake, but there was no apology.

Real Football Talk with CincyJungle.com Post-Game Show: Bengals Beat Jaguars 30-20

The Bengals defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on their own turn by a score of 30-20 which included two touchdown passes from Andy Dalton, a touchdown run from Bernard Scott and a junk-time defensive touchdown from Geno Atkins.

The Bengals held Maurice Jones-Drew in check, for the most part, though they broke their four-game streak of not allowing a running back to average four yards per carry -- MJD averaged 4.5. Aside from the first drive of the game and a blown coverage play that resulted in a 74-yard touchdown pass from Blaine Gabbert to Jason Hill, the Bengals defense looked solid, especially when it came to shutting down the Jaguars in the red zone.
Joe Goodberry, Dave Wellman and I talked about all of these things during our post-game show. We picked our MVPs and Goats for the game and discussed the upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts for a few moments.
You can listen to the show here.
Make sure you join us on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET for our weekly show in which we'll talk about the win over the Jaguars in greater detail as well as preview the upcoming game against the Colts.

Adam Morrison throws down vs. Bogdan Radosavljevic, Bayern München

All right, this one’s starting to go viral within the basketball-related blogosphere, so for posterity’s sake, BallinEurope runs highlights from this week’s tough guy in European basketball.

That’s right: BiE’s talking about Adam Morrison, the former NBA washout Gonzaga Bulldogs star currently plying his trade with Red Star Belgrade. Thursday night saw the Stars taking on Eurocup side Bayern München in Belgrade in a “friendly” match.
Morrison, actually looking quite a bit buffer than he ever has, apparently took offense at Bayern big guy Bogdan Radosavljevic brushing him aside to grab an easy rebound on a Red Star fast break. Morrison got in the face, and that was all she wrote for the Zag: Morrison was ejected immediately, sent to the locker room with a game-high 17 points, and got a standing ovation … they love him in Serbia already! See for yourself below the break.

“Two nights before, after the Lakers had beaten the Utah Jazz 113-110 for their fifth straight victory, Westhead had met with Johnson to express his displeasure over what he called a “lack of concentration on Magic’s part.” That reportedly meant that either Johnson hadn’t listened to Westhead during a time-out late in that night’s game or had failed to run a play to the coach’s satisfaction. In the locker room after that meeting, Johnson told the press that he couldn’t play under Westhead’s system anymore and that he wanted to be traded. After the Lakers arrived back in Los Angeles the next morning, Buss called a press conference, and Westhead was gone, with the remaining three years of his four-year, $1.1 million contract guaranteed.”

Lietuvos Rytas v. Galatasaray, Spirou Basket v. CEZ Nymburk

Just enough time to get in a couple of Fearless Predictions™ before the final two teams to participate in Euroleague 2011-12 are determined, BallinEurope thinks … So let’s get to it!
Lietuvos Rytas vs. Galatasaray Café Crown Galatasaray looked impressive in dispatching Asvel Villeurbanne (O, Tony Parker, où êtes-vous?) and putting up 93 points, the highest total registered in qualifying round games thus far. Better yet, the high-profile additions to the already solid Turkish team’s roster appear to be working perfectly: Jaka Lakovic and Darius Songaila contributed a whopping 40 points combined in the win.

On the other side of the court, Lietuvos Rytas has taken care of business against both opponents faced – KK Buducnost and Cibona Zagreb – with their margins of victory 19 and 16 points, respectively. L.Rytas started the match with the intriguing and somewhat unexpectated combination of Jonas Valanciunas and Vilmantas Dilys at the forward spots, showing the depth this team brings; security they’ll surely need against the long roster of Galatasaray – heck, on paper, the Turkish team may actually have *more* talent man for man.
But there’s no way BiE can go against a Lithuanian side after the heartbreak of EuroBasket 2011; the Official BallinEurope Fearless Prediction™ here has Lietuvos Rytas 90, Galatasaray 87 … but another performance like yesterday’s by Songaila and Galatasaray might just sneak past.
Spirou Basket v. CEZ Nymburk. Is Nymburk ready to make the step up to the big league? After holding Banvit BK to a qualifying-round low point total of 57, the Czech side handily beat frequent Euroleague participants BC Khimki Moscow Region, 86-79, in what the EL official site calls “the biggest upset of the season so far.”
Or was it? Against Khimki, Nymburk simply showed its strengths while keeping the battle for the boards irrelevant. A nice barrage of jumpshots from the likes of Tre Simmons and Pavel Pumprla got the team off to a 21-3 lead, a deficit few teams (including the so-cold Khimki) could overcome. Nymburk showed amazing ball movement and displayed excellent judgment in finding the open man – more often than not, one of the aforementioned deadshots.
Spirou Basket, meanwhile, has the distinct home-court advantage; indeed, after surviving quite a scare against BC Donetsk, the Belgians are now 5-0 in the Euroleague Qualifying Round in the past two seasons on their home floor. And luckily for them, they found their game against Alba Berlin in the final 25 minutes or so of yesterday’s 74-63 win – the defense was solid, the experience players shone, and it all without Mickael Gelabale – to appear ready against the Czech Republic’s plucky underdogs. Official Fearless Prediction™: Don’t call it boring, call it stoic. Hometown Spirou wins, 73-67.

Erick Torres Padilla, Futbolun genç yetenekleri

Futbolun genç yetenekleri, Erick Cubo Torres,

1993 doğumlu, Erick Torres ‘in gerçek aile adı Padilla’dır.

Meksika liginin Süper Klasiği olan Chivas - America maçında “El Cubo” Torres’in oyunun 27. dakikasında rakibine mağlup olabileceğini hissettiren attığı ilk golü hep beraber izleyelim.

Sleeper Math Week 3

  Tier I
Rashard Mendenhall (18) – Not someone I was huge on coming in to this season but he has been off to an even slower start than expected. Make sure if you get him, you’re getting a discount
Chris Johnson (18) – His owners are starting to panic and should be very open to lopsided trade offers. CJ2k has been in my column since Week 1 and he will stay in here until he turns it around or gets injured.
Roddy White (18) – Has not been terrible but still slightly disappointing. There will not be a repeat of last years performance but Roddy should still be considered a first tier receiver.
Hakeem Nicks (17) – The injuries at WR have not translated to an increase in production for Nicks yet. That is partly because teams are keying in on trying to shut him down. Eli will put up at least 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns and Nicks should get his share.

  Tier II
Dez Bryant (17) – He looked healthier than anticipated on Monday Night. I cannot get over how much of a stud this dude is . You still might be able to get him on the cheap. I smell a big game coming on…
Steven Jackson (17) – Sometimes you have to make exceptions for injured players. Jackson has played through injury in the past and there is a good chance that he will be healthy enough soon to do the same. The discount should be heavy and for the right price, I would get him.
Mike Williams (16) – Much like Hakeem Nicks, he is experiencing the joys of having a breakout season and having defenses focus on shutting him down. I like his production to increase from here on out.
Sidney Rice (16) – If his owners were patient enough to wait out the injury, I doubt you will get a huge discount on him at this point. The Seahawks are a train wreck but I believe in Rice’s talent. It is worth throwing some trade offers out there.
Mark Ingram (16) – He has been sort of blah thus far but looked pretty solid. It is clear that he will not be a Ryan Mathews type rookie bust, nor will he be a Steve Slaton type rookie dynamite. The truth lies somewhere in the middle and that is good enough for a flex start in most any league.
  Tier III
Bernard Scott (15) – I sort of cringe at even putting him on here because he has been so awful in the past when given an opportunity. Regardless, Benson will be out for three games at some point and Scott is the starter and that has value. He is more than worth scooping up and throwing on the bench or, if you are really hurting, in your lineup.
Alfonso Smith (15) – Thanks to the good ‘ol Sunday Ticket I got to catch quite a bit of the Cardinals game last weekend. Smith started and although he did not have a big day, he looked really good. Beanie will be taking his job back but if he re-aggravates his quad, the job will be Smiths.
Chad Ochocinco (15) – This is another tough call. What is this dudes deal? With T.O. at least he worked out and practiced like a beast. I have a sneaky suspicion that Chad has lost his desire to compete in the NFL because he thinks he will be able to get rich and famous via ridiculous statements or bad acting. What I am banking on is that he will realize no one will care about him without on field production. I snagged him in one of my leagues and am content to let him sit on the bench and hope for a turnaround.
C.J. Spiller (15) – The Bills are obviously going to go undefeated so it is prudent to start stashing some of their bench players. Fred Jackson has been such a beast thus far and a large part of it is the new dynamic offense in Buffalo; I cannot believe I am saying that. If Jackson gets hurt, Spiller could be enormous.
Roy Helu (15) – He has really looked pretty good thus far and the Redskins coaching staff has done nothing but praise him. Everyone is fixating on Tim Hightower but I really think there is a good chance you will see Helu as the more productive back toward the middle/end of the season.
